Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Company (YMMC) is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day under this year’s theme: “Accelerate Action.” This global call to action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

As part of this commitment, Yamaha is recognizing the invaluable contributions of our female employees and championing STEM education for aspiring young women. According to Kristin Webb, Manager of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility, “We believe in fostering the next generation of female leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, ensuring they have the tools and support to succeed.”

One way Yamaha puts this commitment into action is through their partnership with the Coweta Community Foundation for the 3rd annual Coweta Grand Prix. Yamaha proudly hosts the Downhill Dreams Academy, a unique program where students collaborate with Yamaha engineers to design, build, and race their own soapbox cars. This year’s event, taking place on April 19, 2025, will feature young innovators—including the 56% of scholarship participants from the Howard Warner Boys & Girls Club who are girls—developing hands-on STEM skills while embracing teamwork, creativity, and perseverance.

“In addition to supporting future generations, we are celebrating the incredible women at Yamaha today,” Webb said. “We are proud to share that 48% of hourly employees are women at our Newnan facility demonstrating their leadership, talent, and impact on our success. Their contributions drive innovation, create meaningful connections across our global workforce, and shape a company culture built on inclusion, empowerment, and excellence.”

To honor this special occasion, Yamaha will be presenting gifts to all our female employees as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work. Yamaha states that recognizing and celebrating their achievements is essential to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating opportunities for women to thrive—within Yamaha, in our communities, and in the industries we serve. We are proud to support a future where all women and girls can pursue their passions, break barriers, and lead with confidence,” said Webb.
